Thinking about joining Excel? Start here.

If you’re considering CrossFit, or just want a gym that actually helps you get results, you probably have a few questions:

  • How much does it cost?

  • Is it worth it?

  • Am I fit enough to start?

  • How is this different from other gyms?

Let’s walk through all of it so you can decide if Excel is the right fit for you.

How much does CrossFit at Excel cost?

Our memberships range from $152–$239/month, depending on your level of commitment and any discounts.

Most members fall into one of these options:

  • $199/month (6-month agreement)

  • $179/month (12-month agreement)

  • $169/month (18-month agreement)

  • 10% off for family members

The longer the commitment, the lower the monthly rate, because consistency is what actually drives results.

What new members get (included with your membership)

Every new member starts with our On-Ramp Program:

  • 4 one-on-one sessions with a coach

  • Learn movements, technique, and how classes work

  • Build confidence before joining group classes

This is $480 worth of personal training, included at no extra cost when you sign up.

You don’t need to be in shape to start. That’s exactly what this is for.

What affects the cost?

At Excel, you’re not just paying for access, you’re paying for coaching.

Every class includes:

  • A professional coach leading the entire hour

  • Warm-ups tailored to that day’s workout

  • Movement instruction and demonstrations

  • Individual modifications based on your ability

  • Real-time coaching and feedback

  • Long-term programming designed for results

That’s why our members don’t just start, they stick with it and actually see progress.

Why we cost more than a typical gym

You can join a traditional gym for $10–$30/month.

But most people never get the results they want there.

Why?

Because they’re on their own.

At Excel, you get:

  • Coaching every time you walk in

  • A clear plan to follow

  • Accountability and consistency

  • A community that supports you

Most people don’t fail because they lack access, they fail because they don’t have a plan or anyone holding them accountable.

Excel vs. other fitness options

Excel vs. a traditional gym

  • Coaching vs. figuring it out yourself

  • Structured plan vs. random workouts

  • Consistent results vs. starting and stopping

Excel vs. OrangeTheory / F45

  • Individualized coaching vs. one-size-fits-all

  • Strength + conditioning vs. mostly cardio

  • Movement instruction vs. follow-along

Excel vs. personal training

  • More affordable

  • Community-driven

  • Still coached every session

Do you need to be in shape to start?

No.

This is one of the biggest misconceptions about CrossFit.

At Excel, we follow a simple progression:

Mechanics → Consistency → Intensity

That means:

  1. You learn how to move correctly

  2. You build consistency

  3. THEN you increase intensity

Every workout is scaled/modified to your level.

We regularly work with:

  • Complete beginners

  • People returning after years off

  • Adults 40, 50, 60+

You start where you are, not where you think you should be.

Why some people think CrossFit isn’t for them (and when they’re right)

Let’s address this directly. A lot of people hesitate to try CrossFit because they think:

  • “It’s too intense”

  • “I’ll get hurt”

  • “I need to be in shape first”

  • “It’s only for really fit people”

And to be fair, in some gyms, those concerns are valid.

Not every CrossFit gym prioritizes coaching, technique, and proper progression.

That’s where we’re different.

At Excel, we follow a clear progression:

Mechanics → Consistency → Intensity

That means:

  • You learn movements the right way first

  • You build consistency over time

  • Only then do you increase intensity

Every workout is scaled to your ability, and every class is fully coached from start to finish.

When CrossFit might NOT be right for you

We’ll be honest, CrossFit (even here) isn’t for everyone.

It may not be a good fit if:

  • You’re looking for the lowest-cost option

  • You don’t want coaching or feedback

  • You’re not open to being challenged

  • You’re not ready to be consistent

But if you want guidance, structure, and long-term results, this is exactly what CrossFit is designed for.

What kind of results do people get?

This is where things get real.

  • We’ve had multiple members lose 100+ pounds in a single year

  • Members have improved bloodwork enough to avoid medication

  • One member reversed high cholesterol in 6 months training just 2x/week

  • Another improved markers related to fatty liver in 6 months

  • Members report major improvements in mental health, energy, and confidence

One story we hear often: A spouse joins because they see how much happier, more confident, and positive their partner has become.

This isn’t just about fitness, it’s about quality of life.

Seeing results like this is possible for you too.

More than a gym: A Community Health Hub

We’re proud to be one of the first CrossFit Medical Society Community Health Hubs.

That means we partner with:

  • Physicians (for advanced labs and guidance)

  • Physical therapists (for faster access to care)

Our goal isn’t just workouts, it’s long-term health.

What a typical class looks like

Every class is 1 hour, fully coached:

  • Warm-up (based on the workout)

  • Movement instruction + teaching

  • Workout explanation and scaling

  • The workout (with coaching throughout)

  • Cool down

We offer 8 classes per day (M–F) plus weekends.

You can also use open gym anytime we’re open, but most members prefer classes for the coaching and structure.
